A. Dreams are your sub and super-consious mind talking with your concious mind. Organizing thoughts, feelings, suroundings...life in general to make sense of it all. Played in your mind like a movie you watch or you fully participating. Using signs and symbols and situations...and they can be tricky to figure out sometimes...alot of hidden meanings. www.petrix.com/dreams www.dreammoods.com/dreamd ictionary

Q. how do i have more dreams and what is the secret to having dream you want to have?

A. the secret to having more dreams is to just get longer night sleeps, (go to sleep earlier) as for what you want to dream about, that is a fairly uncontrolled occurence, try to think what about what you want your dream to be about before you fall asleep if you sleep for a short period of time, then the dream will come and go very quickly as you may have noticed (dreams seem to go by fast no matter what though)

I'm waking up to dreams of committing suicide, what can I do to get rid of these dreams?
Q. I have been having repeated dreams of committing suicide. The dreams don't actually involve the final event of pulling the trigger, but they do involve holding a gun to my head. I'm waking up to these dreams and they are interfering with my ability to get a good nights rest. I have a therapist and a psychiatrist. I also am on anti-depressants already.

A. In the evening, do not allow yourself to watch or read about anything violent or depressing. Watch some funny movies, or read a funny or pleasant story. It sounds corny, but I love to read Reminisce magazine and learn about the lives that my parents and grandparents lived. It's lighthearted reading that doesn't evoke any negative thought patterns. Also, don't eat anything after 8 in the evening. Now, tell yourself over and over "I would never do something stupid like kill myself". Do this for several days. Say it with conviction. Before you go to bed, thank God for all of your blessings. He really wants to know that we appreciate what He has done for us. Don't let your mind drift to things that you feel He hasn't done for you -… [cont.]

Can my strange dreams be related to the start of menopause?
Q. I think I maybe be starting menopause. I do have an appointment with my gyno. But I have been having some really strange dreams lately. They are really effecting my sleep. I don't know why else I would be having these dreams. Has anyone else experienced this at the onset of menopause?
Asked by Gena G - Tue Sep 9 10:26:58 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Quite possibly, yes. I find that I have very strange dreams in the couple of days before my period, so I guess maybe there is some connection between hormone levels and weird dreams! The other thing I've heard is that when your body temperature is higher than usual, you don't sleep as deeply, and so you're more likely to remember your dreams. I don't know much about the menopause, but I know one of the symptoms is hot flushes, so it could be that your night time body temperature is a little higher than usual. So maybe your dreams are always that weird and you don't usually remember them!

What causes all the senarios in my dreams?
Q. What generates the senarios in my dreams? The people in my dreams, the things they say, the things they do, the things that happen? What makes it all happen? If my subconsciousness created the dream and all the people in it, and my subconsciousness controlled what the people would say in my dream, doesn't it mean my subconsciousness is a personality in itself?
Asked by lomashibal - Tue May 5 20:48:27 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. We learn much about ourselves and others in dream-time. Mostly dream interpreters say that others you see in your dream are reflections of your own personality. You are also able to work out subconscious disarray in your dreams, and sometimes find solutions to your waking life problems. Everything in life is a lesson, so too are your dreams trying to teach you lessons. I starting writing down my dreams and have discovered that a lot of what is going on with me in my waking life is represented in my dreams. Your subconsciousness is an aspect of you just as your ego is an aspect of your consciousness. Your higher self is more prominent in your dreams because when you dream you are in a different dimension so contact is easier, but… [cont.]

What kind of dreams did you have when you knew you were dreaming?
Q. I've had a few myself. When I was 14 we lost our cat, and he showed up 4 years later. I had constant dreams that I found him again. One time I even had a dream that I found him, then I got disappointed because I knew I was only dreaming and it wasn't real. One time after my friend and I watched the movie Ted Bundy. I had a dream later that night that I saw Ted torturing a little girl, and I knew that it was just some wicked evil dream.

A. Since you are so good at knowing you're dreaming when you sleep, you should try to take control of the dream and make it whatever you want it to be! Lucid dreams can be amazing. =)

What does it mean when I keep having dreams with the same mysterious looking bug?
Q. For the past few months, I have occasionally had dreams with several mysterious looking bugs in the dreams. Sometimes the bug is the same as it was before, sometimes it changes, but I always have multiple dreams with each bug. No matter what the bug looks like (there really aren't bugs that look like this) I tend to call it a centipede or a millipede. I am deadly afraid of both millipedes and centipedes. Can someone give me an explanation as to why I keep having dreams with the same large mysterious bugs in them?

A. i'm no dream expert, but hope my psych major will help... I think that you're dreaming about something that you're afraid of (not bugs, but something that is real in your dream and not real in life). it could be something like being hit by a comet, the Earth splitting in two and falling, being kidnapped by talking computers... stuff that's scary but HIGHLY, highly unlikely ( if not downright impossible). the large size and the fantastic quality of your dream could mean that you are making a big deal out of nothing, that something so inconsequential is taking up so much of your time and energy. You should try and see if there's anything that you're afraid of in real life that might not be as bad as you feared (a report card, a sport, a… [cont.]

A. Dreams are a way your mind deals with your inner most thoughts and bad ones can be triggered by psych medications such as Prozac and Paxil. There is really no effective way to trigger more pleasant dreams, or someone would be selling it and making a fortune. You may have some unresolved fears, or be a fearful person who is constantly dealing with ruminations while you are awake. Ruminations are thoughts about situations you can not possibly solve, but you think about them over and over, almost obsessively, desperately trying to find a solution. Usually these situations resolve themselves favorably, and all that psychic energy you used worrying about them was wasted. Sleep paralysis is a recognized dysfunction and a true sleep disorders… [cont.]

What is the best book to interpret dreams and dream meanings?
Q. WEll i want to know what my dreams mean and i really want to find out but i need a book to find out. So i need the best dream interpreting book.
Asked by heartbrokenrain - Wed May 27 06:27:17 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You are the best interpreter of your dreams. Spirit speaks to you in symbols that you can understand and symbols that relate to you, symbols that have meaning for you. A book will never get you there. In fact, a book of dream meanings will just confuse you, because the symbols in your dreams are personal to you. The best way to unlock the secrets of your dreams is to keep a dream journal. Not every dream is a message. Significant dreams to put down in your journal will have a particular feel, vibrant colors, or strong emotion attached to them. These are the dreams you want to track. It can take years to develop and truly understand your dreams, but eventually you will learn the language of your soul, and you will be glad you ignored… [cont.]

A question about lucid dreaming and connecting/communicating with others in dreams?
Q. Has anyone heard of or had experiences communicating with other people in their dreams(or during lucid dreams). I think that my boyfriend and I have dreams together, but its hard to know for sure because he has a really hard time remembering his dreams. Is it possible? If so, how can I do this more often?

A. I am able to Lucid Dream and in my search on yahoo, I have found a couple people who "Dream Walk" and I have mixed feelings about it. Some people have tried communicating with friends and others have done things that they believe have effected others in real life. One woman was a vampire and sucked another woman's blood in her dream and then swore she ran into the person one day and the person looked scared of her. I also had a man tell me that the same thing had happened to him. It seems to border on Satanic actions to me and I have never attempted to try it. I heard a woman on the radio the other night talking about how her mother would come to her in her dreams and then one night she tried it. She said she was above herself… [cont.]

How many women out there have regular dreams about going into labor and giving birth?
Q. I am in my early 30s and have three children of my own, and I regularly have dreams about going into labor. Seems the frequency has slightly decreased since the birth of my last child (she was my last one for sure), but nonetheless I am still having these dreams. I'm not worried, nor does this bother me (in general labor was a happy experience for me), but I am curious how many other women experience this on a regular basis too. Maybe I miss the pregnancy experience or I just like to go back to those experiences (not sure why these dreams happen so often)? Anybody else?
Asked by Busy Being Mommy - Tue Nov 18 18:20:37 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'm 50 something and I still have them. Labor and birth were awesome experiences for me, and I suppose part of it is just reliving the peak moments of my life. But I also like to think of those dreams as representing the birth of my new self as I move into a different, more liberated, stage of life.

What are some recent studies that show dreams have an underlying meaning?
Q. I'm writing an essay and I'm trying to prove a point that dreams have an underlying meaning. So far I've talked about how several past cultures believe that dreams have an underlying meaning. To further prove my point, I want to talk about people that have recently studied dreams and believe they have an underlying meaning, not that they are just images and thoughts. Preferably 1830's and up, who are some people that have studied this?

A. Have you ever "free written", where you just write what ever comes to mind for a short period of say 2 minutes or even 10 minutes if you are familiar with the process? You just let your mind wander and write whatever comes to it. That is what your subconscious mind is doing, just "free writing". Perhaps it is picking up on subjects that concern you, topical subjects, or maybe they are metaphors. Or maybe they are nothing but "free writing". Paul McCartney woke in the middle of the night with the song "Yesterday" almost completely written by his subconscious mind while he slept. It became the biggest selling song in history because thousands of people have recorded it in every language over the last 40 years. Some people keep notebooks… [cont.]

One, where I'm not getting a good sleep at all and I'm half awake. During that everything is just my imagination going crazy. And another, which I get pretty okay/normal sleep. That one can still turn out like a crazy dream, but not nearly as crazy, I feel relief like I am letting thoughts or feelings out. I've also tried using a dream dictionary for the dreams that make more sense to me and aren't my crazy imagination, and it made a lot of sense and I DID understand what situation I was in and how I felt about it better.
