It aims to increase the individual's well-being. Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behavior change and that are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family). GNU Free Documentation License How psychotherapy helps you to deal with depression? Q. I have been going to the counselor for over three months and I have stopped commiting or planning suicide.I haven't thought about giving up these three months at all, everything is better, still being sad sometimes though. But,I haven't understand what changed,I just go there twice in a week and talk about my chilhood,my relationship with my family, friends, boys and generally people. How psychotherapy makes me see life in a different(better) way? Asked by Angelic Marie From Hell - Fri Apr 3 11:33:19 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Depression is worst when the only person we talk to is ourselves. That is to say that we talk to ourselves in the head and have no answer to our questions. Depression is also worst when there is no one to talk to and no one understands what we feel. I want to say it's something like "interjection" but I'm not sure, not finding anything on Google yet. Asked by Torrey Z - Fri Apr 4 20:32:04 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think you mean "introspection," which means contemplation of one's own thoughts, feelings, and sensations. It could also be "critical thinking" which is "the mental process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer or conclusion." It is frequently quoted in the context of skepticism and the scientific method. I hope these are close at least. Q. I am going to do psychology at Uni and I would like to hear the views of practising psychologists/psychothera pists . If someone is thought to need interventions from family or other s like the GP but the patient is half hearted ,or doesn't see the point will it still work??? Thank you Asked by Haberdashersmaid - Fri Jun 5 14:11:46 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. Definitely, the patient has to want to be helped or they will go through the stage of resistance, refusing to really try to work with the therapist, avoiding answering questions, or stop coming for sessions all together.
